Commissioned at the beginning of 2011, the task was to produce a range of illustrations that communicates the effects of Multiple Sclerosis. The book was a joint venture, conceived by Freddie Yauner, written by Cathy John and designed by Muro Buro.
The book, Look Into My Eyes is about the experience of being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. What’s special about it is that it’s a ‘Choose Your Own’ adventure story, where the reader acts as the protagonist and makes decisions at the end of each section. It’s a fitting representation of the unpredictability experienced by those that live with MS.
The illustrations featured above were used as basic metaphors of the condition. The artist’s trademark subject matter of industry and construction were used to illustrate how with MS, nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord fail communicate with each other effectively.
The book was well received at the national conference, MS Life and was exhibited at Newcastle City Library. The project was funded by drug company Novartis.
