A quiet place to draw, think and make

A week in a riverside apartment in Rye, with time and space to focus on your creative practice.

“Having time and headspace dedicated to working on my next book gave me a confidence boost I was sorely needing”

- Tobi Coventry, Founding Resident

ABOUT THE BOATHOUSE AND SURROUNDING AREA

A riverside apartment and creative workspace, just a five-minute walk from the historic town of Rye.

The apartment includes a dedicated workspace with a workbench and A0 drawing board, a well-equipped kitchen, a king-size bed, a modern bathroom and a river-facing sundeck. Free parking, free wi-fi and use of washing facilities is also available.

Beyond the town, explore the open landscapes of Romney Marsh, the wide sands of Camber and the dramatic coastline around Hastings.

THE TILE TRADITION

Every resident is invited to paint a small ceramic tile using the blue paint provided. There is no brief and no expectation beyond making something of your own.

Over time, the tiles will form an evolving collection on the bathroom wall: a record of the artists who have passed through the Boathouse.
